The victorian mansion was built in 1907. It has since been restored back to its original settings. The Inn is very alive and well and welcomes anyone who wants to come.
Why is this place so haunted? Well… Legend goes that a little girl named augusta who is said to be around 8 years old haunts the 3rd floor of the bed and breakfast. She also goes into rooms of guests and moves things around and even touches the cheeks of the guests while they sleep. Another part says that a man walks the house and smokes a pipe and you can smell it even when no one is there and no one is smoking.
The girls name is really Augusta Houghton. Guests have even gone as far to say that she tugs on their feet and even sleeps in their bed and is woken feeling lost and looking for her mother.
The maids of the Inn have said that they see a male ghost in a top hat. He is dressed in older clothes what looks to be a black suit. He hangs out behind the heating system.
The mansion has at one time haoused a funeral home… possibly this could be the reason the Inn is haunted. Well never know but either way the Inn is a very interesting place to go and enjoy the many things they have to offer.

Oct 15th, 2010While this is the gist of the legend as the owner Becky Luker explained it, it is not the entire story. Later, it was learned by local investigators (and not TAPS, as they would have your believe on their show) that August Houghton did not die when she was 8 years old. She grew up, had children, and long life. In fact, her age wouldn’t even have been correct given when these events were reported to have happened. She would have been much older than 8 when she supposedly died. Whether Luker, her family, friends and guests have actually experienced the ghost of a little girl remains an open question. All we can say for certain is that it was not Augusta.
