Zombie Films have still got it

Posted August 29, 2009 at 1:57 am by Jeff

It’s 3 in the morning and I’m sitting here watching Diary Of The Dead. I must say George Romero and more so Zombie films in general still have “IT”. It isn’t just one thing. They have several factors that make “IT”. They still after all of these years have the ability to scare the “hell” out of us.

When There is No More Room In Hell The Dead Will Walk The Earth

Zombie films have an ability to make people scared. Unlike other horror films Zombie films give you that what if feeling. The feeling that all of this is just a second away from happening… or even worse, it already is happening. They unlike any other horror film reflect society in a very clever introspective way and that I believe makes everything that much more real and scary

Looking In The Mirror

Romero loves to point out society and its good and bad characteristics in his films. In Night of The Living Dead Romero focuses on the racism and patriarchy all over America. In Dawn of the Dead Romero focused more on Consumerism and Capitalism. Romero isn’t the only writer and director who focues on including these reflections into zombie films. its been a common practice among films lately.

Don’t Be Afraid To Run

Zombies are real people. This is what makes it that much more horrifying. Zombies don’t eat flesh out of an evil animosity towards the living but out of an innate hunger. The zombies try to continue on their roles by doing it is they were used to doing all the time. It is what draws us to the zombie film.

All I know for sure is Zombies are scary as hell.

Drag Me To Hell Update!!

Posted July 13, 2009 at 11:01 am by Jeff

I never posted what I thought about Drag Me To Hell.. Well I will say I was not disappointed. It was great from the start to the end. It was a little more commercial than the Evil Dead trilogy but for this movie it worked. When the movie started reaching its climax it was very much in the form of Sam Raimi. I think the acting was perfect. Christine Brown does an amazing job making her character seem real. I think this movie is a buyer for sure.

The Unborn

Posted July 13, 2009 at 10:48 am by Jeff

I want to start by saying The Unborn wasn’t half bad. I think this has something to do with hearing from everyone that it sucked. I think the low expectations made me realize it was actual at some points scary and suspenseful. That being said I found the movie at points very formulaic.  It wasn’t the most original, but you can’t expect these types of movies to be. Overall I would say the acting was decent but contrived during certain scenes. The plot seemed to die towards the middle but started back up during the exorcism. I would give the movie 3 stars out of 5.

Elm Street – Seminole Oklahoma

Posted July 4, 2009 at 12:08 pm by Jeff

If you come to Elm Street at night, you will pass an often overlooked road. Its overcasted by trees, and an ominous eerie tone.  There were abandoned houses, before the city burned them down. There was said to be blood on the walls of the houses on Elm Street. If you get a chance you still may see an occasional orb. Elm Street

The Swine Flu… Zombie Coverup

Posted April 27, 2009 at 9:00 pm by Jeff

Hey guys. I wanted to point out a few odd things i’ve noticed about the swine flu. A few of the latest news articles really could point to a media/governement zombie coverup.  The Zombie Survival Guide calls for several clues that a zombie outbreak could be present. Here is an excerpt from the book discussing warning signs of a potential zombie outbreak.

“Disease-based deaths in which either the cause is undertermined or seems highly suspect. Deaths from infectious disease are rare in the industrialized world, compared to a century ago. For this reason, new outbreaks always make the news. Look for those cases in wich the exact nature of the disease is unexplained. Also, be on the alert for suspicious explanations such as West Nile Virus or “mad cow” disease. Either could be examples of a cover up.”

This exact excerpt has been bugging me so I wanted to put it out there. Read any blog the fact that a virus could be causing all this is kinda odd, that being said its not impossible.

The signs are there for a zombie coverup, just go to CNN.  To be fair, its highly unlikely that this could be an actual zombie outbreak but it could be the beginning. Either way its not gonna hurt to be prepared whether this is a zombie outbreak or a horrible swine flu. Better safe than sorry.
