‘The Evil Dead’ Theatrical Reissue

Posted January 5, 2010 at 11:45 am by Jeff

Earlier today I posted the most exciting things of 2010 and one of them was the theatrical reissue of ‘The Evil Dead’. Below is all the information from Grindhouse and the release dates and theaters. Enjoy :)

evildeadreissue

From Grindhouse Releasing:

Landmark Theatres will present the director’s 35mm print of EVIL DEAD at special midnight shows in Minneapolis, Denver, Seattle, New York, Houston, Dallas, and Los Angeles in the first quarter of 2010.

Grindhouse Releasing has created a new full-color movie poster for the theatrical reissue of the 1981 horror classic. Designed by Tad Leger, the collectible one-sheet features rare photos from the original EVIL DEAD movie poster shoot by Mike Ditz.

“We’ve had tremendous response to our announcement that EVIL DEAD has returned,” says David Szulkin, head of theatrical bookings for Grindhouse Releasing. “We want to show it in as many cities as we can, and encourage fans to contact us and petition their local theater to screen the movie.”

Endorsed by Raimi, producer Rob Tapert, and star/co-producer Bruce Campbell, Grindhouse Releasing’s reissue of EVIL DEAD will hit theaters across North America in the coming year.

More cities will be announced as they are confirmed. The first dates and venues are as follows:

January 8-9: Uptown Theatre, Minneapolis

January 15-16: Esquire Theatre, Denver

January 29-30: Sunshine Cinema, New York

February 5-6: Egyptian Theatre, Seattle

February 19-20: River Oaks Theatre, Houston

February 26-27: Inwood, Dallas

March 5: Nuart Theatre, Los Angeles

2010 is going to be a great HORRORYEAR!!

Posted January 5, 2010 at 11:32 am by Jeff

The year starts off fast with horror. We here at for the dead travel fast are very excited about this and below are the top things we look forward to this year.

  1. Daybreakers
It’s about time we get a real vampire movie, with all the twilights and vampire apprentices out there we couldn’t be happier with Daybreakers. In this film, Ethan Hawke plays a vampire scientist in a world overpopulated by flesh hungry vampires.
  2. Legion
This movie just looks plain awesome. Legion is an Old Testament. A more wrathful God sends the Army of Heaven to protect a waitress in a small-town diner. We couldn’t be more excited to see this. Expect more information on the movie section soon.
  3. Re-imagining of Nightmare on Elm Street
With less than satisfactory remakes such as Halloween, and Friday the 13th, should we really remake this classic? Regardless of the past failures its still going to happen. This looks different although the original Freddy, Jackie Earle Haley, isn’t going to be in this one the film is appearing to give us a much deeper look at the mind of Evil. Be prepared to enjoy this remake, excuse me I mean re-imagining.
  4. Priest
Cam Gigandet and Stephen Moyer are joining up with Paul Bettany’s warrior monk in the summer film Priest. The film is loosely based on the Korean comic about a clergyman who hunts vampires.
  5. The return of  The Evil Dead
This is it, Sam Raimi’s film The Evil dead will be released in selected cities starting January 8th. Later today there will be a post with the dates and cities released.

There are too many awesome things to list but these are just a few. We will keep you informed with a wealth of other news soon. Keep coming back for more information and a few giveaways very soon.

STEPHEN KING’S: THE TALISMAN by Mathieu Ratthe

Posted January 3, 2010 at 12:12 am by Jeff

This short film is a demo scene from the book The Talisman written by Stephen King and Peter Straub. Mathieu Ratthe is a very talented film maker and this demo scene really proves it. I would have to say this is one of the most well done and entertaining short films I’ve ever seen.

Zombieland 2

Posted January 1, 2010 at 4:01 am by Jeff

With the success of the hugely popular cult film Zombieland there are talks of making a part 2 in 3-D. According to a story on Variety, Sony is in the process of signing on all the old cast for a sequel. Variety has reported Sony has already locked down the original producer and director and are currently talking with the cast.

Zombieland was one of the raddest movies I’ve seen all year, but i’m not sure how good a sequel will be. Despite all that I’m still actually excited to see where this goes. What are your thoughts on a sequel?
