The Crazies (2010) Review

Adding suspense to every corner of this small Iowa town Breck Eisner brings this film into main stream horror. “The Crazies”, a remake of the 1973 horror film by George Romero,  stars Timothy Olyphant as David Dutton, the town sheriff. David uncovers a town wide epidemic as several of the townspeople start showing horrifying violent symptoms. David, his physician wife Judy (Radha Mitchell), her nurse Becca (Danielle Panabaker) and deputy Russell (Joe Anderson) are the main stars in this film as they try to figure out what’s happening while surviving the infected and the military.

Eisner does a great job creating an eerie suspense the whole way through the film.  The actors all seemed to work well together having that somewhat natural chemistry. The only duo that seemed off was David and his wife Judy, there scenes seemed forced and sometimes awkward. I would say this is a great mainstream horror film that many people will enjoy. Whether you’re a horror nerd or a casual movie viewer, I think there is something to be appreciated about the film and you’ll probably enjoy it.
