Twilight

Ok, so i must admit. I haven’t read the books nor do I plan too. I have pretty much only read Stephen King books. I have to admit, while I am not the biggest Vampire freak in the world, I did really enjoy it. The movie was amazing. It really caught my interest. We all pretty much know the story Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) falls in love with Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). Bella discovers Edward is a Vampire. Edward introduces Bella to the rest of Cullen Family, who happen to all be Vegetarian Vampires. An Evil Vampire tries to kill Bella and the Cullen family have to do all they can to save Bella.

The preview doesn’t do this movie justice. It really grabs your attention and the actors were all amazing. I honestly cant wait for the second.

Lost Boys The Tribe

Posted March 30, 2009 at 8:26 pm by Jeff

To jump start vampire week I wanted to review a pretty cool movie that may not be so well known. Its a sequal to the original Lost Boys. I loved the original lost boys. I was pretty excited to watch this. I wasn’t let down. It was enjoyable the whole way through. I loved the Cory Feldman character Edgar Frog. The story starts out as the former surfer Chris Emerson and his sister Nicole Emerson move to the Luna Bay area. They move into a wrecked house with their Aunt Jillian who charges rent. Chris runs into his old acquaintance and former surfer Shane Powers. Nicole is turned into a half vampire and Chris has to save his sister and kill off the vampire tribe. He has help by the funny vampire slayer/board shaper Edgar Frog. I really enjoyed the movie. I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars.

Otis

Posted January 29, 2009 at 1:10 pm by Jeff

This 2008 movie is a dark comedy horror flick all the way. I thought it was a pretty funny movie with a lot of odd circumstances. A typical family with odd but normal problems none the less. The movie starts as the lead character Riley Lawson (Ashley Johnson) meets the pizza delivery guy Otis (Bostin Christopher). Otis who is also a serial killer decides this is the girl who wants to kidnap after he accidentally killed the last girl.

Otis kidnaps Riley on her way to school one day. The movie follows her family along as they work with the fbi to try to save their daughters lives. They eventuall take it into their own hands. The movie has some dark moments and some funny moments. Overall this movie is a decent watch. Below isn’t a trailer like normal for each film i talk about but its a clip from the movie. Enjoy

I give it a 3/5 stars.

Mirrors

Posted January 25, 2009 at 5:10 pm by Jeff

Mirrors is awesome. I took me several tries before I actually could finish it but honestly this movie is great.

In New York, the former NYPD detective Ben Carson is hired to work as night watch of the remains of the Mayflower Department Store that was partially destroyed by fire many years ago. Ben became alcoholic and was retired from the police force after killing a man in a shooting. His marriage was also destroyed and now he is living in the apartment of his younger sister Angie. However he has not been drinking for three months and sees the employment as a chance to rebuild his life. When he goes to the rounds in his first night, he finds that the mirrors are impeccably clean and his colleague explains that the former night watch was obsessed by the mirrors. After a couple of nights, Ben sees weird images in the mirrors, but due to the lack of credibility of his past, his ex-wife Amy believes he has hallucinations as a side effect of his medication. When Angie is found brutally murdered in her bathtub, Ben discovers that there is an evil force in the mirror that is chasing him and jeopardizing his family. Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

This movie is one of the scariest movies i’ve seen in a while. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good scare. Its not a perfect movie but the normal problem for these high budget horror films doesn’t appear to be a problem for this one. The story is great and the acting is superb.

I give this one 4/5 stars.

The Day The Earth Stood Still(2008)

Posted December 14, 2008 at 12:40 am by Jeff

The Day The Earth Stood still is a remake of the original film from 1951. The movies plot is basically an alien and his giant robot counterpart visit earth. In this movie Klaatu and Gort land on earth and Klaatu is shot upon trying to give a friendly handshake to a scientist. Klaatu has the power to destroy the whole human race if he feels its the only way to save Earth.

This is a pretty good sci-fi movie. The only problem i felt is towards the ending of the movie it went from a truly intelligent sci-fi flick to a 2nd rate hollywood action movie. Either way i would still recommend going to  see it and judging it yourself.
