Hack!

Posted March 9, 2009 at 7:16 am by Jeff

I have to admit being a computer nerd and when reading this title I thought it was something completely different. I didn’t hear any about this movie, but I decided to go ahead and watch it. I admit this is one of those horror films that believes its smarter and funnier than it really is. Basically the movie starts with several students picked to go onto a field trip to study wildlife. They don’t get to start because o a series of cliché horror movie murders happen.

There were a couple things I instantly thought was cool about this movie. For one, it had Winnie Cooper, ok thats not her real name but Danica McKellar was an instant enjoyment for me. Also, a funny guy from the tv series scrubs, Travis Schuldt is also on this movie, although not for very long he is still in the movie.

Now, getting to the movie, I really enjoyed the fact that they started basically copying off older horror movies and that was the point. The killers in the movie were hack movie directors and writers and they were basically trying to recreate these moments. My favorite part without giving too much away was the ring sequence. I give this movie 3 out of 5 stars.

Lost Signal aka Dead Of Winter

Posted January 29, 2009 at 10:38 am by Jeff

I thought this movie would be great to watch since I was trapped inside my house by an Ice storm.

It took me forever to realize this movie was called Lost Signal. The usa title is Dead of Winter. Directed by Brian McNamara this movie is a psychological thriller. Normally lower budget movies like these don’t give me an errie feeling but this one did. Its been called a modern day shining in a nicer or meaner way by some people on the IMDB. I would have to disagree while not the best movie its pretty entertaining.

The movie takes place New Years Eve.  Kevin Healy (Al Santos) and Tiffany Matthews (Sandra McCoy)  decide to celebrate the new year by trying L.S.D. That leads to a night of eerie circumstances. They must brave the elements and face their inner demons to survive the deep ice covered forest.

Overall I would give this movie a 4 out of 5 stars. Its not the best movie ever but its great to watch on a night when your also stuck inside my an ice storm.

Fido

Posted January 14, 2009 at 10:42 pm by Jeff

Fido was directed by Andew Currie and was released in march of 07. As soon as this movie started I knew i would love it. If you love zombie movies this movie is for you. The whole concept of this movie is so twisted. Head coffins, Zombie slaves, ZoCom. Timmy Robinson isn’t a popular kid. He is picked on by two bullies. His father has already purchased life insurance on him because he feels little timmy will be picked off before he is too old.

The Robinson family buys a zombie and it becomes timmys best friend after the zombie, Fido, saves timmy from the two bullies. A string of events unfold that are both comical and well mostly comical that start with Fido eating the mean, rude, old woman Mrs. Henderson. From the devices that keep zombies at bay to the dark but comical humor this movie is perfect for any zombie fanboy. I give this movie a 5/5.

Diary Of The Dead

Posted November 18, 2008 at 10:38 pm by Jeffrey

George Romero’s Diary of the Dead is an amazing zombie movie but also an amazing social satire. Romero is great at using his work to not only create amazing zombie movies but also point out what he sees wrong with the world.

This time around he is using a digital camera to swat at what Peter Travers calls YouTube-ification of America. It brings questions to the forefront about this circus we all call pop culture.

It wont take much for you to understand I am a huge George Romero junkie. His four other installments all are the staples of zombie culture. Anyone who is at all interested in horror films understands that Romero is truly a genius.

The movie this time starts out as Jason Creed (Joshua Close), is filming a low budget horror film for his college class. He ends up running from real zombies. He becomes obsessed with making sure he records everything. The camera becomes part of him even when its affecting his personal relationship with his girlfriend Debra (Michelle Morgan). Debra tells Jason in a sort of mocking way “For you, if it’s not on film it never happened.”

This movie is the most brilliant zombie movie ever made by Romero in my humble Opinion. I give it 5 stars. I would recommend this movie not only if you are looking for a scare, which it gives, but also if you are interested in a smart well done Horror film.

The visiting from the beginning bring a mood of uneasiness and a little fear. It leaves you on the edge of your seat. I enjoyed this film. I was glad i wasn’t watching this one with the lights off.
