For The Dead Travel Fast, And The Dead-er Travel Fastest

Posted April 28, 2009 at 9:34 pm by Nolan

This is the first post I’ve made. In light of the Swine flu as jeff posted about just awhile ago – i thought i would post a Zombie Survival plan (there are many i know). It is extremely hard to come up with one since all we have to go by is movies – I’m sure WHEN it happens we will get some un-pleasant surprises knocking on our “zombie proof” doors.

Personally my plan consists of as many people as i can get, Friends mainly who have already signed off on the idea. The first few days of the outbreak I’m sure there will be very many casualties just from looting, panic, and etc. We will find a good place to take refuge big enough for the count of people we have with us (hopefully around 15). Transportation by car will most likely not be any kind of viable option due to the large sea of cars im sure will be trying to evacuate and go somewhere else (a lot of good that will do). So we will be left with Bicycles, Motorcycles, or good old Hoofing it out (not without trusty blunt objects). For the first few days, only venturing out to find enough food for a few more days, maybe weeks. Making sure that we go as un noticed as possible in a panicked world. After a long week of gathering food and trying to stay entertained enough for the time spent where we were.  Once some of the area calmed down (via hiding, Dying, Turning, etc) venture out to find some more food for a longer period, some weapons preferably high caliber rifles, Shotguns, Etc.

After that had been accomplished, stashing the supplies somewhere “safe” (i use that term loosely) then we would move on to finding good transportation to a good area that can be defended. I have thought about it, and a lot of movies touch on zombie vehicles. My choice would be an Armored car with a grille/plow fronted on it, also with some way of filling the diesel tanks from the inside. Putting  hatches on top as well. This is my choice for a few reasons:

1. Its a very heavy vehicle so that means it will keep momentum when crashing through other cars (hence the plow/grille).

2. its armored, Duh

3. Putting a way to fuel from the inside will allow more time NOT spent out in the open.

The downside to these would be they wouldn’t carry a whole lot of people so more than one would be needed.

Once the transportation has been procured and modified to suit our needs, we would venture out to find a medium sized vertical building that was on the outskirts of wherever we were, not very wide. Something about 7-10 Floors preferably, and something that was an office building so it would hopefully not be full of people (like an apartment building would be). We’d attempt to find a way to the roof (using the supplies gathered Earlier) that way we could clear the building (with weapons also gathered earlier) of any one that’s been turned, or anyone that is still un-infected that wants to help, or remain the way they are… not a zombie. Working from the top most floor, not sparing any cabinet or Room to be checked (we all know what happens when you have something come up behind you if you forgot to check that one door). When getting to the ground floor, Make sure to check everywhere, disabling the Elevators if applicable and the power is even still on. Locking all doors down, Preferably Welding them shut if that can be accomplished. Leaving will be done through a window near the ground floor (maybe FL1, or FL2) and repel on to the top of the Armored Car (glad we made those Hatches earlier). After clearing the building, and locking down. the ground floor would never be used, except for storage of things other than food (mainly Fuel for the armored vehicles) in and the stairs would be heavily blocked off in an effort to make it that much harder for anyone/thing to get in when they are not welcomed.

If there is still power on, what would happen is to start finding abbandoned houses and taking their refridgerator’s, and Deep freezes, As well as finding as many ice chests as possible to store food that is perishible (seeing as we’re only about a week in, Things shouldnt be going down hill so fast, but then again like i said.. how do we know). Non-Perishible food such as canned Anything would be another must find. If you think about it, it would be just like a strategy game (go figure). You take your central point – all efforts would then be to keep that point, and stock it with supplies to make life easier and keep you alive. After the building had been taken and secured so we were the only ones there, then there would be very little who would be able to leave. Just the Gathering parties to reduce the risk of losing anyone of course.

During the gathering, one prime object of interest would be Soil, Seeds, and planting materials. The roof of the building would become a garden for fresh produce (asuming that you couldnt be infected by such). there would be a few greenhouses after we were established there to make sure that the plants had adequate protection against the elements (much like we would have our building to do so for us)

As for defences, on every gathering party we went out/sent out, it would be a big point to always bring back some type of ammunition or weaponry. There would always be a shift of a few people awake, just as a precaution. If enough people joined, idealy there would be more that 5 awake at a time, a few on the roof and a few in the building on the last floor that was used. Once everything was set, survival would be the name of the game. It would not be easy by any means of course, but at that point it wouldnt be “making a living” or “livin the good life”, it would be just as i said, Surving.

If anyone had reletives, Friends, or Significant others that were reasonably close – there would be a small group that would go on a retrieving mission to bring them back if possible. (hopfully they would have been informed before the outbreak that if something were to happen what to do, and that they would be come back for around a weeks time).

my plan is not the only, and will grow as i hear/see more efficient things to do and add to the plan. Of course all of the plan is subject to change based on situations. I mean, most of everyone’s plans would be shot to hell (no pun intended) if zombies turned up breathing fire, or spitting acid, or being genius’s that could fly F-18′s and shoot back. but the point is, at least i have thought about it. other people are in on the idea and i appreciate it. if you’re down with the idea, feel free to email me and let me know. Also if you have your own idea’s feel free to email as well – i’d love to hear them and know that i might have help in other places if need be.

Until next time, check for bites nightly!

H2: Halloween 2

Posted April 28, 2009 at 3:57 pm by Jeff

Rob Zombie is in post production of his film H2. I have to admit I am very very excited. Walking out of the theatre after the first movie, I felt let down. I decided to see it again and I realized that this movie is great. What’s the point of watching the same movie we all know and love.

It was a re-imagining. This is how I feel about the second movie. I am a huge dork when it comes to Halloween and Myers theories but I really liked the first movie and I think I am going to really like the second movie. A lot of people are not used to the way Rob Zombie films are made, but in my opinion its a very raw awesome style that makes them so good.

If you didn’t like the first movie I have this to say. Rob, himself, said that he wasn’t satisfied with the movie. He wanted to make it two movies, but the studio wouldn’t approve that. I think given the circumstances this movie is even more legendary then the originals. I am positive I will get a ton of comments calling me crazy. I don’t care. I’ll just wait and see on August 28th.

The Swine Flu… Zombie Coverup

Posted April 27, 2009 at 9:00 pm by Jeff

Hey guys. I wanted to point out a few odd things i’ve noticed about the swine flu. A few of the latest news articles really could point to a media/governement zombie coverup.  The Zombie Survival Guide calls for several clues that a zombie outbreak could be present. Here is an excerpt from the book discussing warning signs of a potential zombie outbreak.

“Disease-based deaths in which either the cause is undertermined or seems highly suspect. Deaths from infectious disease are rare in the industrialized world, compared to a century ago. For this reason, new outbreaks always make the news. Look for those cases in wich the exact nature of the disease is unexplained. Also, be on the alert for suspicious explanations such as West Nile Virus or “mad cow” disease. Either could be examples of a cover up.”

This exact excerpt has been bugging me so I wanted to put it out there. Read any blog the fact that a virus could be causing all this is kinda odd, that being said its not impossible.

The signs are there for a zombie coverup, just go to CNN.  To be fair, its highly unlikely that this could be an actual zombie outbreak but it could be the beginning. Either way its not gonna hurt to be prepared whether this is a zombie outbreak or a horrible swine flu. Better safe than sorry.

Drag Me To Hell

Posted April 27, 2009 at 7:40 am by Jeff

“The Return to True Horror”…. and I couldn’t be more excited. I have always been a huge fan of the old school horror films. Night of The Living Dead, The last man on Earth, The Evil Dead trilogy, and the first couple Halloweens. I cannot wait for this to come out. The IMDB has the plot as “A loan officer ordered to evict an old woman from her home finds herself the recipient of a supernatural curse, which turns her life into a living hell. Desperate, she turns to a seer to try and save her soul, while evil forces work to push her to a breaking point.”

This one looks great.  I am a fanboy of these types of films so I may be a little biased but come May 29th we will see. Let me know what you think about this one.

Twilight Series Spoilers

Posted April 5, 2009 at 1:13 pm by Jeff

To finish off Vampire Week I wanted to post twilight Spoilers. These are openly available but I thought it would be nice to post them here. They are openly available at Twilight Series Spoilers

Twilight

Bella Swan moves from Phoenix, Arizona to live with her father in Forks, Washington to allow her mother to travel with her new husband, a minor league baseball player. After moving to Forks, Bella finds herself involuntarily drawn to a mysterious, handsome boy, Edward Cullen. She eventually learns that he is a member of a vampire family who drink animal blood rather than human. Edward and Bella fall in love, but James, a sadistic vampire from another coven, is drawn to drink Bella’s blood. Edward and the other Cullens defend Bella. She escapes to Phoenix, Arizona, where she is tricked into confronting James, who tries to kill her. She is seriously wounded, but Edward rescues her and they return to Forks.

New Moon

Edward and his family leave Forks because he believes he is endangering Bella’s life. Bella falls into a deep depression, until she develops a strong friendship with werewolf Jacob Black. Jacob and the other wolves in his tribe must protect her from Victoria, a vampire seeking to avenge her mate James’ death by killing Bella. A misunderstanding occurs, and Edward believes Bella is dead. Edward decides to commit suicide in Volterra, Italy, but he is stopped by Bella and Alice, Edward’s sister. They meet with the Volturi, a powerful coven of vampires, and are released on the condition that Bella be turned into a vampire in the near future. Bella and Edward are reunited, and the Cullens return to Forks.

Eclipse

The vampire Victoria (James’s mate from Twilight) has created an army of “newborn” vampires to battle the Cullen family and kill Bella. Meanwhile, Bella is forced to choose between her relationship with Edward and her friendship with Jacob. Edward’s vampire family and Jacob’s werewolf pack join forces to successfully destroy Victoria and her vampire army. In the end, Bella chooses Edward’s love over Jacob’s and agrees to marry him.

Breaking Dawn

Bella and Edward get married, but their honeymoon is cut short when Bella discovers she is pregnant. Her pregnancy progresses rapidly, making her weak. She nearly dies giving birth to her and Edward’s half-vampire-half-human daughter, Renesmee, but Edward injects Bella with his venom to save her life by turning her into a vampire. A vampire from another coven sees Renesmee and mistakes her for an “immortal child”, whose existence violates vampire rules, and informs the Volturi. The Cullens gather vampire witnesses who can verify that the child is not one of the immortal children. The Cullens and their witnesses convince the Volturi that Renesmee poses no danger to vampires or their secret, and they are left in peace.

Twilight

Posted April 3, 2009 at 2:38 pm by Jeff

Ok, so i must admit. I haven’t read the books nor do I plan too. I have pretty much only read Stephen King books. I have to admit, while I am not the biggest Vampire freak in the world, I did really enjoy it. The movie was amazing. It really caught my interest. We all pretty much know the story Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) falls in love with Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). Bella discovers Edward is a Vampire. Edward introduces Bella to the rest of Cullen Family, who happen to all be Vegetarian Vampires. An Evil Vampire tries to kill Bella and the Cullen family have to do all they can to save Bella.

The preview doesn’t do this movie justice. It really grabs your attention and the actors were all amazing. I honestly cant wait for the second.

The Last Man on Earth ( Full Movie )

Posted April 1, 2009 at 5:54 pm by Jeff

A free Movie to help get Vampire week going even further. This is one of the first older horror films I saw and I loved it. I never knew this would be remade into a movie called I Am Legend. In my opinion both were great, but today we are only talking about the last man on earth.

Dr. Robert Morgan (Vincent Price) is the last man on earth. The movie shows him going through the struggle of trying to ward off vampires and the horrible past. Its a great movie and it formed one of my favorite movies over 40 years later so i give it 5 out of 5 stars. Great great film.

You don’t get many actors like Vincent Price anymore.  Now, here is the complete 1964 film The Last Man on Earth.
